Hex rotate match-3 puzzle

Triad Flux

One rotation can set off the whole board.

About the game

Triad Flux is a hex puzzle where you rotate triads of tiles to match colors and spark chain reactions. Any triangle of three equal colors clears, six around one center forge a Flux Core, and Cores triggered in a match refine into Singularities worth thousands. Four modes keep runs fresh: Endless against rising Pressure tiles, a 90-second Timed sprint, Survival waves built on Flux Locks, and a seeded Daily Flux capped at fifty rotations. It plays free in your browser with mouse, touch and keyboard, and keeps your best scores saved locally.

Game features

  • Four modes with separate rules and best scores: Endless against counting-down Pressure tiles, Timed with a 90-second clock that refills up to a 120-second cap, Survival waves of Flux Locks, and a Daily Flux seeded from the UTC date
  • Rotation happens at triad junctions: click or tap the point where three hexes meet, then tap again, swipe or press ↶ / ↷ to spin those three tiles
  • Any triangle of three equal colors clears, and cascades multiply that clear's score by 55% per extra chain step
  • Surround a center with six equal colors to forge a Flux Core; trigger a Core inside a match to refine it into a Singularity worth 3,500 points
  • A cascade of two or more charges a Resonance ×2 tile, and Amp tiles caught in the same clear stack up to a ×4 score multiplier
  • Deep Flux rule: a cascade of five or more crystallizes a fresh Flux Core whenever no ring was forged that turn, rewarding long chains
  • Accessibility options include Color Aid glyphs for every tile color, reduced motion, procedural ambient music and haptics, with Q/Z and E/X keyboard rotation and Esc to pause

How to play

Click the point where three hexes meet to select that triad. Tap the same spot again, swipe, or use the on-screen arrows to rotate; on a keyboard, Q or Z spins left and E or X spins right, with Esc pausing. Three same-colored tiles forming a triangle clear and pull new tiles down, so look for rotations that set up more than one triangle at a time. Six of one color around a single center forges a Flux Core, and clearing a Core in a match refines it into a Singularity. Mind each mode's own meter: Pressure tiles count down every move, the Timed clock drains, Survival Locks consume your move budget, and Daily Flux allows exactly fifty rotations.

Tips & strategies

  1. 1.In Endless, treat Pressure tiles as the score engine: each one defused is worth 700 points, more than most single clears, so rotate them into triangles before their counter hits zero.
  2. 2.Refining beats forging. Creating a Flux Core scores 1,250, but triggering it inside a match refines a Singularity for 3,500, and every Singularity then caught in play adds another 2,200 — so forge Cores next to colors you can still match.
  3. 3.Two-Amp clears are the real jackpot. A cascade of two or more charges a random tile with Resonance ×2, and every Amp caught in the same clear doubles the score again up to ×4 — route big matches through both Amp tiles.
  4. 4.Survival tightens from both ends: Flux Locks grow by two every wave (from ten, capped at 26) while your move budget drops by one every second wave (from 26, floor 16), so spend cheap rotations on locks early instead of saving moves.
  5. 5.Daily Flux gives everyone the same 50-rotation board for the UTC day, so spend the first moves setting up a ring around a quiet center; once the board is crowded, a five-chain can also crystallize a free Core through the Deep Flux rule.

Frequently asked questions

Is Triad Flux free to play?

Yes. It runs free in your browser on this page with no download or account, and the game itself carries no ads. This page embeds the developer's official build from itch.io.

Does Triad Flux save my progress?

Yes. Best scores for each mode and an unfinished run are stored in your browser, so the Continue button on the menu picks the run back up on the same device.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Yes. The build is mobile-friendly: you tap the meeting point of three hexes, then tap again or swipe to rotate, with optional vibration feedback where the browser allows it.

Is Triad Flux related to Hexic?

No. The developer describes it as an original puzzle game and states on the title screen that no Hexic artwork, audio, branding, UI assets or source code are used.

When does the Daily Flux board change?

At midnight UTC. Every player gets the same seeded starting board and refill stream for that date, and the challenge is to post the best score in exactly fifty rotations.

What is Triad Flux Pocket?

A separate Game Boy Color adaptation of the same rotating-hex idea by the same developer, built to run on real hardware. The browser game on this page is the full version with all four modes.
