Poople
One letter at a time, every road ends in POOP.
About the game
Poople is a daily word ladder game where you turn a random four-letter word into POOP. Every move swaps exactly one letter and has to land on a real word — COOL to COOP to POOP is a valid two-step finish. Scoring is based on extra guesses beyond the shortest path, so the puzzle rewards a clean route through the dictionary. One new ladder releases every day, and every player gets the same starting word.
Game features
- A new four-letter starting word every day — the same puzzle for all players
- Each move swaps exactly one letter; wrong steps get bounced with a "Not one letter different" warning
- The dictionary check rejects invented words with a "Not in word list" message
- No letter hints: no green or yellow tiles, the ladder is on you
- Scoring counts extra guesses beyond the shortest possible path
- The stats screen tracks wins, average extra guesses, and current and best streaks
- On-screen keyboard for touch, plus physical keyboard support on desktop
How to play
Each day hands you one four-letter word, and the finish line is always POOP. Build a ladder: every guess must swap exactly one letter and land on a real word — BARN steps to BORN, COOL steps to COOP, COOP steps to POOP. Type with your keyboard or tap the on-screen keys, then press Enter. Rejected rows clear without costing a guess, and the game tells you why: "Not one letter different" or "Not in word list". Your score is the guesses you spend beyond the shortest path. A reliable trick: work backward from POOP's neighbors, like POOL, LOOP or PROP, and connect the two ends.
Tips & strategies
- 1.Compare the start word with POOP first — letters the two words share are rungs you never have to move.
- 2.Swapping a vowel usually opens the most doors: many four-letter words differ only by their vowel.
- 3.A rejected row costs nothing — rows that fail the one-letter or dictionary check clear for free, so test borderline words without fear.
- 4.Scoring only counts guesses beyond the shortest path, so planning two swaps ahead beats poking one letter at a time.

Frequently asked questions
What is Poople?
A free daily word ladder game: every player gets the same random four-letter starting word and changes one letter per step until the ladder reaches POOP.
Is Poople free to play?
Yes. It runs right on this page in your browser — no download and no account. The game is ad-supported.
How is my score calculated?
Poople compares the number of guesses you used with the shortest possible path for that day's ladder. The difference is your extra guesses, and lower is better.
Does my progress save?
Your wins, average and streaks are kept in your browser, so they are waiting for you when you come back on the same device.
Can I play Poople on my phone?
Yes. The game has a built-in on-screen keyboard for touch input, and a physical keyboard works the same on desktop.
Who made Poople?
Software developer Elias Furst turned "the to-poop game" — a pencil-and-paper road-trip game his dad invented about twenty years ago — into this online daily puzzle.
