Corto! — 90 Second Challenge

Eat copper, grow wide and short out rival cables in 90 seconds.

About the game

Corto 90 Second Challenge is a snake-style io game where you steer a live electric cable. Eat copper to grow longer and wider, then cut rivals off so their heads hit your cable and short out. The arena fence bounces you back instead of ending the run, so the real enemies are the 90-second clock and everyone else in the arena.

Game features

  • You play a live electric cable in a neon io arena, not a typical snake
  • Copper pickups grow your cable longer and wider every run
  • Cut rivals off so their head hits your body — contact shorts them out
  • Every run is a 90-second challenge chasing the best score
  • The arena fence bounces you back instead of ending your run
  • Turbo on demand — hold the mouse button or Space to surge forward
  • Steer with mouse or touch, free in your browser with no download

How to play

Steer your cable with the mouse or your finger, and hold the left button or Space to turbo. Copper pellets are the only food: each one you swallow adds length and girth to your cable. Smaller rivals die the way you do — steer across their path so their head strikes your body and they short out, then sweep through what they leave behind. Your own head is just as fragile, so never cross a body you cannot beat. The timer runs 90 seconds, and the fence bounces you back instead of ending the run, which makes edges safe and rival bodies the only real hazard. When the clock hits zero, your score is banked.

Tips & strategies

  1. 1.Turbo is a cutting tool, not a cruise speed. Save it for the moment you swing across a rival's path — that burst is what turns a near miss into a short-out.
  2. 2.The fence is your friend. Since bounces cost nothing here, tight turns at the wall can shake a chaser loose; just keep your own head clear of bodies near the rebound.
  3. 3.Grow before you fight. Every copper pellet widens your cable, and a wider cable is a bigger wall — early length turns later cut-offs into easy traps.
  4. 4.Steal the leftovers. A rival you did not kill still drops the arena's copper when someone else shorts it, so drifting near fights pays without the risk.
  5. 5.Respect the mirror rule: whatever kills them kills you. Never cross a body you cannot beat, and never turbo blindly through a knot of cables.

Frequently asked questions

Is Corto 90 Second Challenge free to play?

Yes. ToniAndrea86 hosts this 90-second edition free on itch.io, and it streams right here in your browser with no download or account.

How is this different from the full Corto game?

This is the free 90-second challenge: one timed run. The full game on Android and on itch.io adds endless Arena, Survival and Duel modes, 14 skins, power-ups and ghost challenges.

How do I short out a rival cable?

Cut across a smaller cable's path so its head hits your body — that contact shorts the rival out instantly.

What happens if I hit the arena fence?

Nothing bad — in this challenge the fence bounces you back into play. Rival bodies are the only thing that can end your run early.

Can I play on a phone?

Yes. Steer with your finger and press and hold the screen for turbo, the same controls as the desktop version.

What does turbo do?

Holding the mouse button or the Space key gives you a burst of speed. It is how you cut in front of rivals — and how you dodge when someone cuts in front of you.
